Wow, what a month February has been so far, with school/kinder starting, a quick trip to Hobart and a 6th Birthday Party. It'll settle down once we get into the routine but for now we have a very tired household which I'm sure is the same in many households. So for meals the focus of course is simple to prepare but very nourishing for little bellies and brains.
Thank you to everyone that has been asking when we will be starting the Meal Plans up again, it's lovely to know that you like what we do! Things have been very hectic with the shop and planning our wedding so we have been throwing together meals without too much forward planning, as long as there is plenty of fresh veggies and salad ingredients in the house we can pull together a pretty delicious meal most nights :)
WOW, how is it the start of December & SUMMER this week?! And we are still waiting for some consistent warm weather, hopefully it's not too far away. We are still eating a lot of warm vegetables with our meals, as soon as the weather improves we'll be shifting towards fresh salads and lighter options.
Elaborate meal plans are out the window as we head into our crazy, busy and satisfying period over the lovely Summer months in beautiful Inverloch. It's straight back to scribbled notes and meals that are nourishing and tasty but very easy to prepare. This involves less time on the computer and more time spent focussing on new products and recipe ideas for your Summer BBQ's and meals.
Where is the year going?? We are busy putting plans in place for Christmas orders as well as the busy Summer season at Inverloch plus our wonderful customers are keeping us busy every day by placing orders online and shopping in store. In no time the silly season will be here and as with meal planning, forward thinking and preparation goes a long way.
What a weekend it has been! It was so exciting to be at the Palladium at Crown for the AMIC Victorian Awards Dinner on Saturday night but to come away with two Sausage King Awards was incredible. Hence we are having a very simple and nourishing Chicken and Vegetable Soup for tea tonight.
I am really looking forward to this week, this collection of meals look so enticing. With a bit of luck the sun will come out and we will all be able to get some much needed vitamin D which is so important for our immune systems and optimal health.
We're back into the swing of things after school holidays and daylight savings starting, it's coming to the time of year for us that things really ramp up so I need to be super organised with meal prep and having food available. The only problem is our meals are tending to get a bit monotonous so I need to add some extra flavours to make things a bit more interesting. Might be time to plant that herb garden I keep thinking of!!
I have to admit, it's been hard to sit down and write this up today, with the sun shining, the kids keen to play outside with friends and horses that want attention (or me that wants to give the horses attention), I have been tempted outside all day, which is a good thing! But, now that the jobs are done, dinner is cooking, i have some time to sit down and prepare for the week.
I have started off my week of meal planning with a big cook up of bolognaise to put in the freezer, although it's not actually on my plan for the week it will go a long way and will give us at least three meals worth. I find my thermomix very helpful when it comes to preparing the sauce if not actually for cooking it, I use it to finely cut up bacon and onion and while that fries up with the meat, I blend up a selection of whatever veggies need to be used from the fridge. An extra tub of tomato paste does wonders hiding the extra spinach I sneak in.
